Radford Seals Mac & Jack Success Robbie Radford was the star of the show as Crosby Comrades took the first Trophy of the Formby & District Snooker season, the ‘Mac & Jack’ Team Pairs by defeating the Brook Club at Formby Legion by 92 points.
Anthony Mackay and Reg Watts won the opening close encounter against Trevor Kinley and Marcus Bayliff to reduce the Brook’s handicap advantage from 27 to just 12.
Crosby then dominated the second frame with Robbie Wilson and Andy Entwistle securing a 85-43 victory over Chris Reynolds and Steve Hollinshead and thus leaving Crosby with a 30 point lead going into the decider.
Phil Harbon, the Brook’s hero in the semis lined up with skipper Ally McCallum against Robbie Radford and Ian Murray with the Brook needing a big performance. However it was Crosby’s Robbie Radford who quickly sealed the match by knocking in a fine 64 break.
Congratulations to Crosby Comrades on their success and to the Brook for reaching the first final of the season.
