'Mac and Jack' Down to Last Four In this weeks matches of the Formby & District Snooker League attention has moved away from the League to Cup action in the form of the ‘Mac & Jack Team Pairs’ Quarter Finals.
Les Dodd’s B overcame their A team, making the most of their 11 point handicap start. Although losing the first two frames Les Dodd’s B won through because of the impressive performances by Paddy Tyndall and Dave Hagan who beat Trevor Ford and Gavin Douglas in the decider 84-27. The B team eventually running out winners by a 35 margin.
Les Dodd’s B will entertain Crosby Comrades in the Semi-Finals after Crosby comfortably despatched Legion C at the Legion. Robbie Wilson and Anthony Mackay set the tone with an 81-16 defeat of Alan Morris and Terry Barlow in the opener. This was then followed up by similar victories for the other Crosby pairings only Colin and Peter Bennett offering any resistance to the Crosby firepower.
Our Lady’s A advanced to the Semis by successfully conceding a 42 point handicap start to Les Dodd’s C at the Princes Street venue. Jimmy Tristram and Dennis Warren wiped out the home sides advantage in the first frame and despite spirited efforts from Stephen Metcalfe and Adam Shears in frame two, the Gild Hall outfit cruised to victory in the decider with Gerry Murch recording a 22 break for good measure.
The Brook Club will be Our Lady’s opponents in the second Semi after a hard fought win over Ince. Steve Hollinshead and C.Reynolds were the main difference between the sides with their 75-45 defeat of Mike Pope and R.Cashen.
The Semi-Finals shall take place on Monday 11th December at venue of the first named teams and the Final on Monday 18th December at a neutral venue to be arranged. The Semi-Final draw is as follows:-

There were also two re-arranged League games this week with Les Dodd’s B making it a three way tie at the top following a 5-1 home win over Our Lady’s B and Legion D recording a fine 6-0 whitewashh of Ince. The highlight of these games was the 99-15 victory for the unbeaten Paddy Tyndall over Colin Watterson. Paddy achieved his win with breaks of 23 & 39.
