Mac & Jack Pairs Handicap First Round
Last week in the Formby & District Snooker League saw the first round of the Mac & Jack pairs handicap played. Full score lines not available as some match cards not arrived.
Crosby Comrades through to the next round after their defeat of Con Club A to whom they conceded a 60 point start. They had a 35 clearance following a fluked last red in the final frame.(So I am told!)
Good handicapping for Ince Club. They used their 31 point start to advantage defeating Legion B by 35 points. Mark and Andy Pope aided by Mike Pope and Phil Fellows doing the damage for the away team. A 10-35 finish for a three frame match must be getting close to the record!
Brook Club also used their handicap well beating Les Dodd B. The Princess Strret side were conceding 73 points. Despite breaks of 25 and 36 by Dave Hartley and Paddy Tyndall virtually pulling the handicap back, they lost the match by 18 points. Messrs Harbon and Lock sealed the victory defeating Mark Hopwood and Peter Harrison.
The final match was Our Ladys A, something of a Wildcard defeating favourites Con Club B who conceded 35 points. Jimmy Tristram and Gerry Murch were beaten by 2 points by Graham Clarke and Peter Brown. Ian Barnes and Richard Bell beat Frank Houghton and Ian Dickinson by 22 points. This left Our Ladys A 11 points ahead going into the final frame. Despite spirited opposition, a solid game by John Mycek and Peter Kershaw resulted in Brian and Andrew Kenyon conceding the match on the colours.
