By Graham Clark

In the latest games of the Formby & District Snooker League Les Dodd’s A and Legion B have both taken advantage of Les Dodd’s B being without a game, both recording 5-1 away wins to join the Princes Street’s B team at the top.

Les Dodd’s A won against Legion C with Gavin Douglas and Andy Rae again showing decent form while Legion B improved their lofty position by defeating Our Lady’s B. The Legion were assisted by breaks of 20 by Gary Rimmer and 25 by Dave Rimmer.

Con Club B remain one point off the pace after a 5-1 away win over Legion D. Tony Bellas and Peter Brown both kept their impressive start to the campaign going for the Con’s while Jimmy McLintock potted well for the Legion in his 66-22 defeat of Brian Kenyon.

Crosby Comrades are keeping in touch with the leaders following their 6-0 whitewash of Our Lady’s A. R.Radford was the star for Crosby, hitting breaks of 34 & 27 in his 81-45 victory over the useful Jimmy Tristram. Anthony Mackay also impressed and R.Wilson made it 6 wins from as many starts, 60-25 against Dennis Warren.

Les Dodd’s C avoided defeat for the first time in the Formby League by earning a 3-3 draw with the Brook. Paul Bimson and Stephen Metcalfe sent them on their way, taking the opening frames against Peter Kilduff and C.Reynolds respectively. R.Davis then won to give the home side a 3-1 advantage with a first team victory within reach. However the Southport based side had to settle for a draw as Phil Harbon and J.Kilduff both prevailed for the Brook.

Con Club A and Holy Trinity shared the spoils at 3-3 with all six frames being won fairly comfortably. Tommy Tickle, Adam Maylor and Keith Turner for the Cons and James Holman, Luke Palethorpe and Steve Power for Trinity were the victors in this close contest.
