Doddy's B Extend Lead at Top
By Graham Clark

In the latest games of the Formby & District Snooker League Les Dodd’s B have extended their lead at the top of the table to 5 points.

The Princes Street cue men defeated Holy Trinity 5-1 with Dave Hartley (20 break) and Mark Hopgood both winning in decent style. However the highest break of the match came in Luke Palethorpe’s consolation victory for Trinity, Luke hit a fine 43 en route to a 78-20 victory over Frank Bradley.

Les Dodd’s A and Legion B head the chasing pack after 5-1 victories over Legion D and Con Club A respectively. Breaks of 38 (Andy Rae), 34 & 22 (Gavin Douglas) and 25 &20 (Dave Mills) all helped Les Dodd’s A in their win while Gary Rimmer was the pick for Legion B, notching up a 23 break in his 56-17 defeat of Adam Maylor.

Con Club B dropped three more valuable points at home to Crosby Comrades despite taking the opening frames through Tony Bellas and the unbeaten Peter Brown, the former compiling a 28 break. However Crosby fought back well through messrs Murray, Radford and Wilson, the latter of which was again in the breaks with knocks of 41 & 22.

Our Lady’s A gained their first win of the season with a 5-1 home win against Les Dodd’s C. Jimmy Tristram (24 &22) was the pick of the Gild hall men with his 76-31 defeat of Adam Shears.

It was a good week for Our Lady’s B who gained 9 points and 2 victories with a 5-1 away win at the Brook and a 4-2 home win over Legion C in the first of their re-arranged fixtures. John Mooney, Phil Kershaw and Dudley Lidiard all won in both games to help the Church Road outfit climb the table.
