No Change at the Top
The leading three teams all won 5-1 last week leaving the first three positions unchanged with Crosby Comrades in pole position by two points. Stars of the week were Legion B with their 6-0 whitewash of Our Ladys B.Gordon Dale standing out in his defeat of Phil Kershaw.
Our Ladys A beat the Legion C 5-1. High scoring game from Jimmy Tristram including a 30 break in his win over Mike Radcliffe. Strong performance from Frank Houghton with his comfortable win over Terry Barlow.Terry Farell replied for the visitors beating Mike McNamara. Mike had come back from behind and attempted a difficult black for game but his hopes disappeared with Terrys next shot.
Les Dodd B playing at home resulted in honours shared. In form Paddy Tyndall defeated Cons B skipper Peter Brown most convincingly. Graham Clark won a high scoring contest against Mark Hopgood. Richard Bell and A.Kenyon the other winners for the Cons B side. Peter Harrison had a good win over Brian Kenyon. Brian Jarrett the other winner for the Princess Street side against …. Who is this? Steve Waters dipping his little toe in the proverbial after what seems like a long absence. Welcome back Steve!
Brook Club recorded their first win of the season defeating Ince Club 4-2. All the Brook winners played well, Andy Pope beat James Kilduff and Phil Fellows beat Marcus Bayliff in reply for the visitors.
Cons Club A had a very useful 5-1 win against Holy Trinity. Keith Turner beating James Holman with a 32 break for good measure. Adam Maylor also knocked in a 26 break on his way to defeating Paul Formby. Alan Corlett put up a strong contest against the visiting sides only winner Luke Palethorpe, but it was not to be,with Luke taking the frame on the black.
There is not much in it in the league top positions. A few surprise results over the next few weeks could change all!
