Maximum Points Keep Challengers in Touch
By Graham Clark

In this weeks matches of the Formby & District Snooker League Les Dodd’s B and Con Club B have both scored maximum points to keep their outside title challenges alive.

Les Dodd’s B beat Our Lady’s B at home with Peter Tomlin in fine form, hitting breaks of 38 & 29 against Phil Kershaw. Peter was ably assisted by Dave Hagan (35), Paddy Tyndall (26) and Dave Hartley (22).

Con Club B kept up their challenge by defeating Legion D, also at home. Breaks of 28 (Mark Bellas), 24 (Graham Clark) and 22 (Tony Bellas) helped seal what was only the second time the Con’s had taken maximum points this season, a fact they will surely rue in the weeks to come.

The leaders Les Dodd’s C had a 5-1 home win over Legion B, gaining revenge for a defeat at the Legion earlier in the season. Phil Fitzgerald beat Carl Finlayson 90-25 but for once wasn’t amongst the breaks. These were provided by Les Sullivan (45), Lee Briscoe (30 & 24) and Kev Smith (24). The Princes Street outfit are now five clear with just 2 matches to go.

The results from the matches at Our Lady’s A, Legion C and Ince have as yet not been received for which these teams have been fined 1 point. As per League Rules these fines shall be raised each week until the results are received.

Congratulations to Les Dodd’s A, Les Dodd’s C, Holy Trinity and Legion D who have made it through to the Semi-Finals of the Allan Parker Knockout Cup.
