Comrades Take The Title

Congratulations to Crosby Comrades who sealed their place as league champions in the final week, still three points clear of runner up Les Dodd “B” Comrades won their match against Ince 4-2. Paul Lathom and Andy Pope won for the home side with breaks of 21 for Paul and 25-22 from Andy. The other four frames were convincing wins for the Comrades with breaks of 27 Robbie Wilson, 27 Neil Farrington.

Con Club “A” won 5-1 against Our Ladys “B” Good win for Jason Francis defeating Keith Turner. A point which prevented a tie for the handicap league.Tony Bellas back in the groove with breaks of 44-29. Close game between Tom Tickle and Colin Watterson with Tom prevailing.

Our Ladys “A” were beaten 4-2 at home by Con Club “B” Jim Tristram beat Ian Barnes aided by breaks of 31-24. Good performance from Ian Dickinson and it could easily have been honours shared with Graham Clark beating Peter Kershaw on the black.

Legion “B” lost 4-2 at home to Les Dodd “B” Tremendous game from Carl Finlayson beating Paddy Tyndall convincingly with seven blacks from three visits. This is only the second time Paddy has been beaten all season. Good win for Mark Rimmer beating Dave Hartley on a re-spotted black. Breaks of 24 Carl Finlayson and 36 S. Cooper. The other wins were all convincing.

Les Dodd “A” v Legion “C” was 4-2 for the Legion. Alan Morris lost a close game with Kevin Petford despite having a 22 break. George Howells and Peter Bennett won well Stuart Forrester also won well against Trevor Lynch with a 27 break for good measure.

The final match of the week was a draw between Holy Trinity and Brook Club. Colin Robertson and Cos Pittounikos impressing against Messrs Kilduff and Hollinshead. Brook who have been impressing this season will be quite happy with a draw because it means they have won the Joe Rigby handicap trophy by one point! Congratulations and well done to Comrades and Brook Club for their well deserved wins and also to Mark Bellas who has won the Danny Taylor Trophy for the most wins.
