Six of the Best See Doddy's B Close Gap In the latest matches of the Formby & District Snooker League, Les Dodd’s B have recorded their sixth whitewash of the season and now trail their C team by just 4 points, and still have a game in hand.
The Southport based side’s latest 6-0 was achieved at the Brook Club. Breaks by Paddy Tyndall (31), Dave Hagan (30), Dave Hartley (27), Peter Tomlin (25 & 21) and Frank Bradley (24) totally overwhelmed their hosts.
The gap is now just 2 because Les Dodd’s C dropped 2 points away to Legion C. The in form duo of Phil Fitzgerald and Steve Sullivan both hit breaks again, 23 and 32 respectively while the Legion’s Ray Lavelle followed up his win over Adam Maylor with an equally impressive victory over Kev Smith.
Our Lady’s A kept on course for the Handicap League after a 4-2 home win against Ince. Gerry Murch hit a 30 break in his 64-34 defeat of Mike Pope and Peter Kershaw also won well. The Gild Hall men will have to watch out for Les Dodd’s B as they too have the Handicap League well in their sights.
Les Dodd’s A continued their upsurge in form by defeating Legion B 5-1. Andy Rae was again in exhilarating form knocking in breaks of 60,20 and 20 again. Graeme Booth won well with a 22 break and Dave Quinn won a high scoring encounter against Gary Rimmer 74-60.
Con Club A recorded their first 6-0 win of the season against Our Lady’s B. Allan Corlett, aided by a 21 break, and Kris Forrester both won well to set the Con’s on their way. They never looked back then as messrs Roberts, Turner, Abbott and Parker all rattled off comfortable victories.
The Final match off the week resulted in a 3-3 draw between Holy Trinity and Legion D. The game began well for the Legion as Alan Swift and Andy Tucker both impressed. The match was the levelled at 2-2 after steady performances from Luke Palethorpe and James Holman. Honours then ended even as Kenny Woodward beat Scott Kirby and Eric McLean overcame Steve Power on the final Black.
Could all players involved in the ‘Living Flames Handicap’ last 16 please arrive by 8 O’Clock prompt next Monday 27th February at the Legion.
