Les Dodd “B” Keep Up The Pressure
By Gerry Murch

With only four weeks of the current season left, Les Dodd “B” scored a perfect 6-0 in their derby match against the “A” side. Convincing wins all round for the “B” with the exception of Jamie Rae v Bill Forrester. Jamie was 30 points behind requiring snookers. He ended up 18 behind on pink and black, got the snooker and both colours to win by one point. Well done Jamie and hard luck Bill! S. Cooper finished off in style with a 32 clearance.

Con Club “A” at home drew to Brook Club. Good wins from Tom Tickle, Mark Bellas and Alan Parker. A rare appearance these days from Tony Bellas who lost to Phil Harbon. Trevor Kinley and Chris Reynolds were the other winners for the visitors.

Con Club “B” beat Legion “C” 5-1. Terry Barlow saved the whitewash beating Ali Tyrer. Close game between Colin Bennett and Ian Barnes decided on the black.

Our Ladys “A” playing away defeated Holy Trinity 4-2. Star of the match was Ian Dickinson in beating the very able Luke Palethorpe by a convincing score-line. Breaks of 23 from Jim Tristram, 22 Colin Robertson and 20 Ian Dickinson. James Holman and Paul Formby replied for the home side beating Peter Kershaw and Dennis Warren respectively.

League leaders Crosby Comrades beat Legion “B” 5-1. Mark Rimmer replied for the visitors defeating Ian Murray by a decent margin. Good challenge from Gordon Dale taking Rob Radford to a re-spotted black, but once again Rob just managed to prevail. Breaks of 36 from Neil Farrington, 22 Chris Howard and 21 Anthony Mackay.

Our Ladys “B” were beaten 5-1 at home by Ince Club. John Moony was the home side winner beating Andy Pope. Close game between Phil Kerhaw and Paul Lathom. Andy Hesketh v Steve Evans looked like it was resolved on blue and pink. 22 break from Steve Evans.

Les Dodd “B” have pulled back another point on Comrades and are now six points behind. They meet Comrades in two weeks and it is open to guess-work if that match will resolve the final league winner beyond doubt, or still open to chance on the final two fixtures.
