Doddy's B Revival Gains Momentum In last weeks games of the Formby & District Snooker League Les Dodd’s B’s recent revival has gained momentum following their third straight six-nil win. The Princes Street outfit are now back joint leaders with Con Club B.
Skipper Mark Hopgood impressed for the new joint leaders , hitting a 43 break against John Sanders while Dave Hartley (30) and Paddy Tyndall (24 Twice) also chipped in with breaks.
Con Club B secured a 3-3 draw in the difficult match up away to Crosby Comrades. Despite the match ending all square, all six frames were won before the final colours. Ritchie Bell and Mark Bellas impressed for the Cons while Crosby unleashed their secret weapon Neil Farrington for his debut and he duly obliged producing a whirlwind potting display to outgun Tony Bellas 85-26. Andy Entwistle also shone for the home side producing a gritty emotion filled performance to inflict the first defeat of the season on Con Club skipper Peter Brown.
Les Dodd’s A join Crosby in equal third place, five points off the pace after a 6-0 win away to Legion D. Andy Rae overcame a 24 break by Chris Wagstaff to secure a 74-25 victory while Peter Harrison notched up a 35 break in his 56-35 defeat of Paul Aindow, a win that secured the whitewash.
Con Club A are up to fifth after a hard fought 4-2 home win over Legion B. Allan Corlett sent them on their way with a narrow defeat of Carl Finlayson who was backed up by similar wins for Keith Turner and Adam Maylor. Allan Parker then sealed the match with a 63-33 defeat of Dave Rimmer.
Our Lady’s A won 4-2 away to Les Dodd’s C with Jimmy Tristram’s 31 break standing out. Jimmy went on to defeat Adam Shears 72-25. Frank Houghton and Bill Clare also won well for the visitors, responding to having gone 2-0 down at the hands of Stephen Metcalfe and Michael Coward.
The Brook Club landed a fine 6-0 win at the Gild Hall against Our Lady’s B thus denting their ‘Joe Rigby Handicap League’ chances. Steve Hollinshead took the scalp of Phil Kershaw and Phil Harbon hit a 22 break en route to a 70-14 win over Roger Wilkins.
The Final match of the week saw Legion C beat Ince 4-2 at the Legion. Ray Lavelle won well for the Legion while Mark and Mike Pope secured the points for the visitors.
