Comrades Holding On
With five matches to go in the current season, Les Dodds “B” edged one point nearer to Comrades after their 6-0 defeat of Legion “C”. A couple of close games but mainly solid wins for the home side.
Crosby Comrades beat Our Ladys “A” 5-1 with Peter Kershaw replying for the home side defeating Robbie Wilson on the Black. Two other frames went to the pink and black, it could easily have been a draw. Neil Farrington was in fine form defeating Bill Cl;are. Some good potting from Reg Watts and some good fortune for Ian Murray (black over the pocket Ian!) . Ian Dickinson had his chances against Rob Radford and came close but Rob prevailed.
Good win for Ince beating Holy Trinity 5-1. James Holman just saved the whitewash for the visitors. Good wins all round, particularly Mike Pope beating Luke Palethorpe convincingly. Steve Evans maintaining his good form.
Brook Club v Les Dodd “A” was a draw. Messrs Kinley Harbon and Kilduff winning for the home side. Brian Hardy, Stuart Forrester and Graham Marshall the winning visitors.
Con Club “A” beat Legion “C” 5-1 A very solid win with Gary Rimmer replying for the home side defeating Alan Parker. Con Club “A” now move from joint third to fourth position.
Con Club “B” had a perfect 6-0 against Our Ladys “B”. Roger Wilkins nearly saved the whitewash but did not quite make it. Nice 51 break from Graham Clark in his match against Dudley Lidiard. Con Club “B” are now in third position.
Les Dodd “B” are now in second position after their perfect 6-0 and seven points behind leaders Crosby Comrades. Both Con Club “B” and Les Dodd “B” have yet to play Comrades second time round. Those two matches should be interesting!
