Comrades Look Odds On for Title

Crosby Comrades Playing away to Holy Trinity only dropped one point last week, further increasing their lead over their nearest rivals Con Club “A” who dropped four points to Our Ladys “A” James Holman replied for Holy Trinity in a close match against Norman Lee. Solid wins for the rest of the Comrades, but Tom Sanders came quite close against Robbie Wilson.

Legion “C” at home was a 4-2 win for Brook Club. Peter Bennett kept it tight against Trevor Kinley and took the frame on the black. Trevor Lynch won a low scoring affair against Steve Hollinshead.Some of the other games could have gone either way, with Messrs KIlduff and Harbon winning convincingly.

Les Dodd “A” v Legion “B” resulted in a draw. Good win for Kevin Petford with a solid score-line against Carl Finlayson. Likewise with Dan Matthews in his win over Mark Rimmer. Stuart Forrester the other home side winner.Harry Boydell, Dave Rimmer and Gary Rimmer the winning visitors.

Cons Club “A” at home to Our Ladys “A” had a reversal of their previous weeks success against Comrades and lost 4-2. Graham Booth and Mark Bellas replied for the home side with breaks 48 and 21 from Mark. Bill Clare won a tight tussle with Tom Tickle. Ian Dickinson played well against Alan Corlett. James Tristram beat his Southport league team-mate Alan Parker with a convincing score-line and Gerry Murch won the duel between the two skippers.

Con Club “B” beat Ince Club 5-1.Steve Evans Replied for Ince defeating Graham Clark a very good win for Steve. Ali Tyrer back to his usual form with breaks of 34-23 trouncing A. Rogers. Solid wins from all the Cons Club players who now go joint third.

Les Dodd “B” defeated Our Ladys “B” 5-1. Colin Watterson won for the home side beating Jamie Rae.Solid wins all round for the Doddy men with breaks of 28-23 Paddy Tyndall,31-20 Mark Hopwood, S. Cooper had a 21 and Phil Kershaw managed a 22 for Our Ladys but it did not help his cause against Paddy Tyndall.

The Comrades could still be caught (six fixtures to go ) but it is going to take some doing!
