Tom Tickled Pink
By Gerry Murch

Some surprises in the Formby & District Snooker League last week. Con Club “A” beat league leaders Crosby Comrades, who were playing at home 4-2. Veteran campaigner Tom Tickle beat Formby champion Robbie Wilson in what looked like a low scoring tactical affair. Well done Tom ! High scoring win from Mark Bellas against Anthony Mackay who can be a prolific potter. Good wins from Alan Parker and Graham Booth. Rob Radford and Neill Farrington replied for the home side. Looks like Con Club “A” have their sights on that pole position.

The Legion Derby resulted in a draw. Good win from Colin Bennett over Carl Finlayson. Strong challenge from Chris Howard (including 29 break) against Ray Lavelle but Ray won the day. Mike Radcliffe in good form against Harry Boydell. Looking at the scores a draw seemed a fair result.

Ince Club also took it to a draw playing away to Les Dodd “B” Steve Evans beat Dave Hartley, with Mike and Mark Pope beating S. Cooper and Peter Harrison respectively. Messrs Tyndall, Rae and Hopgood all had comfortable wins for the home side.

Brook Club at home beat Our Ladys “B” 4-2. Trevor Kinley impressing again with high scoring win against Dudley Lidiard with a 35 break along the way. Phil Kershaw and Andy Hesketh replied for the visitors.

Our Ladys “A” beat Les Dodd “A” 4-2. James Tristram overcame Frank Bradley in a close run affair. A good long pot blue could have won Frank the game, but it was not to be.Kevin Petford won on a re-spotted black against rookie Brian Pritchard. Mike Mc Namara also won on the black against Graham Marshall.

Con Club “B” at home to Holy Trinity could only manage the draw. Graham Clark aided by breaks of 35-22 beat Paul Formby. Convincing win from Luke Palethorpe against Brian Kenyon. Good result also for Colin Robertson v Peter Brown .C. Pittounikos did very well coming first against Richard Bell. Last week Comrades were looking almost invincible. Looks like Con Club “A” have different ideas !
