Doddy's A Do Double On Leaders To Close Gap In the latest games of the Formby & District Snooker League Les Dodd’s A have completed the double over leaders Con Club B to close the gap at the top to just 3 points.
The match didn’t start so well for the Princes Street outfit as Alex Tyrer recorded a useful 56-40 victory over Andy Rae and Dave Mills narrowly levelled affairs against Tony Bellas. The next two frames both proved to be long safety battles where mutual respect was in evidence. Les Dodd’s won both through Will Jerram and Gavin Douglas to put their team 3-1 up. The final frames were then shared as Peter Brown notched up win number 15 of the season and Peter Harrison prevailed against an out of sorts Ritchie Bell.
Crosby Comrades have moved up ominously into joint second after a 6-0 away win at Holy Trinity. Robbie Radford was again in the breaks, his 32 helping him to defeat Costa Pittounikos 99-14.
Les Dodd’s B are still very much in the title race after a 5-1 win over Our Lady’s B and are just 4 points off the leaders. Breaks by Dave Hartley and Frank Bradley (both 23) and Matthew Bradley (24 & 20) all impressed for the Southport based side. Phil Kershaw recorded the solitary win for Our Lady’s , defeating Paddy Tyndall 59-39.
Con Club A and Our Lady’s A both managed 6-0 victories, the Con’s at home to Les Dodd’s C and the Gild Hall men away to Ince. Allan Corlett won a high scoring game with Adam Stanley 70-46 while Gerry Murch did likewise in a 68-61 black ball thriller against Phil Fellowes.
The highest breaks of the week came in the 3-3 draw between the Brook Club and Legion C. Ray Lavelle for the Legion and Phil Harbon for the Brook both recorded knocks of 44 against James Kilduff and George Howells respectively.
The final match of the week saw Legion B win the Legion derby against their D team by 4-2. Gary Rimmer and Chris Howard both won well, the latter hitting a 21 break for good measure.
Could all players note that the draws for the individual competitions have been distributed to all delegates and the results for which must be sent to the secretary by Monday 12th February.
