Breaks Galore
Plenty of breaks in the Formby & District Snooker League last week. Some surprise results too as the pace hots up. Con Club “A” beat Les Dodd “A “ 4-2. Kevin Petford and Dan Matthews were the visitors winners. Kevin with an excellent win over the very handy Graham Booth and Dan beating Keith Turner. Mark Bellas only a point short of the ton in his win against Brian Hardy and a 25 break for good measure.
Brook Club Lost 4-2 at home against Con Club “B”. Brook star Phil Harbon impressing in his convincing win over Graham Clarke. James Kilduff overcame the experienced Brian Kenyon. Good performance from Ian Barnes against the very useful Trevor Kinley with another convincing win.
The Our Ladys derby match resulted in a 4-2 win for the “A” side but it could easily have gone the other way. Black fights from Ian Dickinson v Andy Hesketh and Bill Clare v Phil Kershaw with a cracking black from Phil when they were all square, to win the frame. A good win from Roger Wilkins defeating Peter Kershaw.
Crosby Comrades dropped a point against Legion “ C “ with Trevor Lynch beating K. Woodcock. Rob Radford had breaks of 68-22 in his match against Mike Radcliffe and Mike had a 22 break himself but to no avail.
Les Dodd “B” at home beat Holy Trinity 4-2. Paddy Tyndall had a 58 break during his demolition of zero handicapped Chris Connelly, proving he can can knock the billiard scores up against the big guns as well. 40 break from Mark Hopgood against Paul Formby. Jamie Rae had a 22 break against Luke Palethorpe but to no avail as Luke won convincingly.James Holman the other winner for the visitors beating A.Danks. C.Pittounkos put up a spirited fight against Dave Hartley only losing by three points.
The final match of the week saw Ince Club defeat Legion “B” 4-2. Good performance from Carl Finlayson in his win against John Thackerey aided by a 36 break en route.Mark Rimmer won well against Tony Rogers whom we have not seen for a while. Phil Fellows won on a re-spotted black against Dave Rimmer. Andy Pope won well against Gary Rimmer.
The only real change in the top placings is Crosby Comrades who have increased their lead by a further point making them five points clear.
