Six of the Best for Coms
At the mid point of the Formby & District Snooker League Crosby Comrades defended their pole position with a 6-0 whitewash of Ince Club. Breaks of 21 from Anthony Mackay and Neill Farrington with 36-21 from Robbie Wilson. Convincing wins all round with the exception of Phil Fellows v Rob Radford which went down to the black.
Legion “C” at home beat Les Dodd “A” 4-2 Good win from Colin Bennett against Frank Bradshaw, who can be a handful to pin down. Geoff Marshall and Dan Matthews replied for the visitors. Messrs Barlow, Radcliffe, and Howells the other home side victors.
Les Dodd “B” playing at home beat Legion “B” 5-1. Mark Rimmer saved the whitewash just pipping Peter Harrison at the post. Convincing wins all round from the Princess Street side with breaks of 27 Jamie Rae, 24 Paddy Tyndall and 61-21 from Mark Hopgood. Good win though it was, they have now gone two points behind the Crosby Comrades.
Honours shared at the the Brook Club against Holy Trinity with a draw. Tom Sanders won a high scoring affair against Chris Hannon. Colin Robertson and Luke Palethorpe the other winners for Holy Trinity. Trevor Kinley, Steve Hollinshead L.Lock winning for the Brook.
Con Club “B” thrashed Our Ladys “A” 5-1 with Bill Clare just saving the whitewash. Ian Barnes impressing with a comprehensive win over James Tristram. The other wins were also pretty comprehensive!
Our Ladys “B” v Con Club “A” was a 5-1 win for the Con Club. Roger Wilkins saved the whitewash for the home side defeating Alan Corlett by a decent margin. Keith Turner had breaks of 24-21 against Dudley Lidiard. Mark Bellas had breaks of 21-21 against Phil Kershaw.
No change at the top, Crosby Comrades increased their first place lead to two points over Les Dodd “B” with Con Club “A” in third position and still two points adrift of Second place. With eleven fixtures to go, who would predict a winner at the moment!
