B Team Continue in Whitewash Mode In this weeks matches of the Formby & District Snooker League Les Dodd’s B have continued their amazing run of 6-0 victories, their fourth in the last six matches. The latest victims for the Princes Street outfit were Our Lady’s B at the Gild Hall.
Once again the Southport based side overcame their opposition by notching up a barrage of breaks. Peter Tomlin was the pick with runs of 27 & 23 while Frank Bradley (25), Dave Hartley & Paddy Tyndall (23) and Mark Hopgood (20) also chipped in. As the Les Dodd’s C V Legion B game was postponed, Les’s B are now at the top of the table.
The 6-0 whitewash once again eluded Con Club B as they defeated Legion D by 5 frames to 1 at the Legion. In a low scoring affair Adam Maylor stood out for the Cons with his 82-14 defeat of Steve Kirby. Alan Swift kept his decent form going for the Legion by beating Tony Bellas.
The Con Club’s A team were also in action against a Legion side, sharing the spoils with the C team 3-3. Skipper Keith Turner impressed for the Con Club in his 73-30 defeat of opposing Captain George Howells, helping his side into a 3-1 lead. However, strong performances from Colin Bennett and Ray Lavelle secured the draw for the visitors.
Holy Trinity beat the Ince Club by 5-1 at home with the Ince side fielding just 5 players for which a point fine has been raised. Colin Robertson made a successful return to the fray in decent style, hitting a 23 break for good measure. James Holman also won well, defeating Mike Pope 71-28.
Our Lady’s A had a good week by defeating their B team in a rearranged fixture 5-1 and Les Dodd’s A 4-2. In the derby match Peter Kershaw impressed, notching a 22 break in scoring 91 against Colin Watterson while the B teams Kershaw, Phil, notched a 21 break in his defeat of Jimmy Tristan. The useful away win at Les Dodd’s was achieved by winning performances from Jimmy Tristran, Ian Dickinson who beat the in form Graeme Booth, Peter Kershaw and a Ninth win from Ten starts for Bill Clare.
