Doddy's Close the Gap
By Gerry Murch

Legion “B” lost at home 4-2 to Brook Club. Messrs Kinley. Reynolds, Hannon and Harbon doing the damage. Chris Howard and Harry Boydell replied for the Legion. Looking at the scores a convincing win for the Brook Club.

Crosby Comrades v Con Club “B” resulted in a draw. Graham Clarke beat Formby champion Robbie Wilson. Ian Barnes also impressed beating the useful Anthony Mackay. Neill Farrington, Rob Radford, and Reg Watts the home side victors.I think a drawn result in this match was fairly predictable.

Con Club “A” won against Ince Club 5-1 with Mark Pope the only winner for the home side. Convincing wins all round for the Cons with Mark Bellas knocking in a 47 and a 25 from Graham Booth.

Our Ladys “A” v Les Dodd “B” was a 6-0 whitewash for the Princess Street side, improving their league position.A well matched game between James Tristram and Paddy Tyndall . It went to the black with neither player deserving to lose.

Holy Trinity won 4-2 at home to Legion “C” with George Howells and Ray Lavelle winning for the visitors.34 break from Luke Palethorpe on his way to beating Terry Barlow.

Les Dodd “A” beat Our Ladys “B” 4-2.Roger Wilkins and Phil Kershaw winning for Our Ladys. Breaks of 22 and 20 respectively from Dan Matthews and Graham Marshall. I think this side is improving by the week!

Almost the half way mark in the season now and Crosby Comrades are still top but now under pressure from Les Dodd “B” only one point behind. The two Con Club teams are in joint third position.
