Home Forms Sees Doddy's B Go Second In the latest matches of the Formby & District Snooker League, Les Dodd’s B have recorded another 6-0 home win, their third in succession, to overhaul Con Club B in second place.
The Southport sides latest win was achieved via breaks of 20 from Peter Tomlin, 25 from Frank Bradley and an impressive 48 from Paddy Tyndall, using a cue plucked off the rack! They now trail their C team, who had an open week, by 3 points.
Con Club B missed their opportunity to close the gap on the leaders after a battling 3-3 draw at home to Holy Trinity. Adam Maylor (24) and impressively Ritchie Bell (32) both performed well for the home side. However, Kenny Woodward and Paul Formby rightly took the plaudits with wins over Graham Clark and Mark Bellas respectively, thus ensuring the honours ended even.
Les Dodd’s A beat Legion C 4-2 away with breaks of 24 from Graham Booth and 29 from Formby Champ Andy Rae. The reply for the home side was headed by Colin Bennett who produced an excellent 67-23 over the useful Dave Mills.
Our Lady’s A welcomed the return of Jimmy Tristan by getting back on the winning trail, beating the Brook 4-2 at home. Bill Clare and Ian Dickinson saw the Gild Hall men go 2 up only to be pegged back by Jack Jones and Phil Harbon in frames 3 and 4. Jimmy Tristan then made his return a winning one which along with a victory for Gerry Murch ensured the home victory.
Gary Rimmer kept his useful form going, breaks of 20 & 25 against Andy Hesketh, to set up a 4-2 home win for Legion B over Our Lady’s B. Mean while namesake Dave Rimmer’s recent good run came to an end, beaten 45-28 by Phil Kershaw returning to the Legion after his summer transfer.
The final match of the week saw Con Club A secure a comfortable 5-1 away win at Ince. Three of the victors, Kris Forrester, Keith Turner and Mark Abbott all scored 65 points, the latter notching up a 22 break for good measure. The magic number 65 was also successful for the Ince Clubs solitary win, a 65-28 victory for Brian Hardy.
