Allan Parker Team Knockout Cup Competition
By Gerry Murch

In the first round of this individual handicap competition Con Club “B” beat Our Ladys “B” 4-2. Phil Kershaw and Dudley Lidard used their handicaps well to overcome Ali Tyrer and Ian Barnes. The home side wins were all pretty convincing despite some hefty handicaps being conceded. Breaks of 22-20 from Graham Clark.

Legion “B” the victors against Our Ladys “A” with a 4-2 win. Ian Dickinson and Peter Kershaw replied for the visitors, being the only two winners for the second week running. Good result from Carl Finlayson beating James Tristram. The handicapping was about right. Legion “B” played better and deserved to win.

Ince Club were beaten 5-1 by Crosby Comrades. Mike Pope saved the whitewash beating Ian Murray who conceded seven points. Convincing wins all round from Comrades. Formby champion Robbie Wilson had a fine 72 break in his match against Mark Pope to whom he was conceding thirty five points.

In the final match Con Club “A” beat Brook Club 4-2. James Kilduff beat competition sponsor Alan Parker with a 29 break for good measure. If the break came early in the game I can understand Alans plight, as he had already conceded twenty eight points, but well done James. Trevor Kinley the other Brook winner overcoming S. Catterall despite conceding forty two points. Credible win from Graham Booth taking out Phil Harbon with a 37 break on the way.
